Rent some bicycles, kayaks or fishing gear at Santee State Park or take the Fisheagle boat tour into the lakes to witness the natural beauty of waterfowl including eagles and osprey. Come face-to-face with alligators or enjoy the lake wildflower gardens.

Join the Santee Wildlife Refuge on one of their notable wildlife tours or exhibits. A walk along the one-mile Wrights Bluff Trail affords visitors the chance to observe songbirds, wading birds, and several species of waterfowl. Visit in December during their annual Bird Count. Santee just happens to be located in the flyway from Canada to the tropics!

The town of Elloree is highly recognized as one of the top places to shop for unique antiques and historic collectables. Rich in history, the Elloree Old Town District is home to circa 1900's buildings that house arts and crafts, antique shops, gift boutiques, an art gallery, coffee shops, as well as the Elloree Heritage Museum & Cultural Center. The 100-foot-wide street features brick crosswalks, and is lined with flowering and hardwood trees, providing an inviting rural setting for shopping or browsing. Two blocks away, Joe Miller Park offers picnic tables and a shelter, a pavilion for community events and concerts, and lighted tennis courts. Each March the town is the setting for the Elloree Trials Horse Race for thoroughbreds and quarter horses. The town is also the home of bi-annual antiques festivals, bi-annual trash and treasures sales, the annual Winter Lights festival, and the Pork Fest.
